Amazon Kindle 2: E-Book Reader

The highly anticipated Amazon Kindle 2 is finally official and will hit the store on February 24th. This new e-book reader certainly looks way thinner than those previously-leaked shots and the back is apparently made of metal, it also includes stereo speakers at the bottom. The device will set you back $359.

Dell Wasabi PZ310 Handheld Printer

Dell Wasabi PZ310 Handheld Printer: The 7-ounce devise design is a companion to digital cameras that support PictBridge over USB as well as most Bluetooth-equipped devices, letting users print away from home. Dell uses a relatively new ZINK (zero-ink) technology borrowed from Polaroid that relies on a layer in the paper itself to print an image without having to use either an inkjet tank or a laser toner cartridge.

The printer can produce a full color, 2x3-inch image in about a minute and has an adhesive back that lets users print out labels. The hardware takes most of the work away from Bluetooth devices, letting any device that can initiate a common Bluetooth file transfer send the photos while the Wasabi handles the tasks that would otherwise need specific Bluetooth printing support.

Dell says the PZ310 is available today and will start out at a $99 sale price that will eventually creep back to $149. The company explicitly warns that the iPhone isn't currently compatible but suggests this may change in the future.

Intel Core Processor Challenge: Million Dollar PC Designs

The Intel Core Processor Challenge, a unique and exciting way to encourage PC innovation conducted last year. Bringing expertise in technology, design and style, the panel of judges for the finalist submissions consisted of IDEO Founder and Chairman David Kelley; Ziff Brothers Investments Senior Vice President, Technology Strategy Michael Miller; Intel President and CEO Paul Otellini; and GQ magazine Associate Editor Kevin Sintumuang.

For us, PCs are far more than purely utilitarian appliances to help us work more efficiently and communicate more effectively. Think of our hobby as electronic thrill-seeking. The rush others get from BASE jumping or running with the bulls is the same rush we get seeing a wicked mod grow legs and take off.

Intel Core Processor Challenge Million Dollar PC Designs

It’s no secret that we like to live on the frontier of high-performance computing. Whether it’s volt-modding a graphics card, fashioning a custom case that blurs the line between form and function, or jumping in at the beta phase of the next killer app, we wa2nt to be first in line. Then again, we know you’re camped out in the same line.

Acer Aspire G7700-UQ9550A: Gaming Predator

What comes to mind when you hear the word predator? Perhaps spacefaring aliens that hunt for fun? That's clearly what Acer wanted you to think when it designed the Acer Aspire G7700-UQ9550A, aka "Predator" ($2,199 list). The bright orange gaming PC looks straight out of the science-fiction film franchise—I wouldn't have been surprised if I had found a "Weyland-Yutani" logo somewhere on the chassis. This is a flashy gaming system with enough power to back up all that flash.

Gateway FX6800-01E: Gamer Desktop On A Budget

The Gateway FX6800-01e ($1,249.99 list) is clearly going after the gamer on a budget. It's a bit more expensive than sub-$800 gaming boxes like the , but the FX6800-01e can play today's games a whole lot better. There are a few tremendous innovations in the FX6800-01e, and its performance is stellar for its price. A couple of niggling details keep it from besting the $2,000 gaming PCs, but if you're someone who upgrades by buying a whole new system every few years, the FX6800-01e will rock your world.
